How to open your bank account
With the following steps you get an overview about how to open and verify your bank account. You can open your bank account online, at one of our branches or by phone.

Giro Digital
Manage your finances online with our excellent online banking and the App Sparkasse for only 4.95 Euro per month.
Young account
You are younger than 25 years old? Then apply for the young account and enjoy no fees for students and trainees between the 18th and 25th birthday.
Anyone can apply for a bank account online. As our contract language is German, the form is in German, too.
The following instructions will help you to fill out the form. You also have the opportunity to use the translation help from your respective browser.
EU-citizens

- Identification at a Berliner Sparkasse branch possible.
Non-EU-citizens
- Videolegitimation for these nationalities possible
- Identification at a Berliner Sparkasse branch possible.
When asked for your nationality in the online form, you will automatically be informed of the possible type of verification when submitting the order.
After your successful verification, you will receive your Sparkasse card (debit card) and details for your online-banking login per post within a few days.
With the online banking details for the login, you are able to set up your online banking in a web browser or in the app Sparkasse.
Documents needed to open your bank account
- ID card or passport
- Proof of Adress (for example registration certificate / Meldebescheinigung) only needed when identification can be completed at one of our branches.

Important information: Please note that the contract language is German. A consultation in your native language is not always possible. It is an advantage to book an appointment.
