How to open your bank account
Anyone can open the bank account online, at one of our branches or by phone. For most EU citizens the account can be easily opened and verified online. For other nationalities branch legitimation (Filial-Legitimation) is the only option after filling in the forms online.
Documents needed to open your bank account
- ID card or passport
- Proof of Adress (for example registration certificate / Meldebescheinigung) only needed when identification can be completed at one of our branches.

Important information: Please note that the contract language is German. A consultation in your native language is not always possible. It is an advantage to book an appointment.

Card Types
In Germany and at the Berliner Sparkasse there are different card types. The debit card is directly linked to your bank account for immediate payments. We will provide you with this card automatically when you opened your bank account.
On top of that you can apply for a credit card, that offers additional benefits such as insurance and global acceptance..
